Joinery & Furniture
GETC supplied complete Joinery works and FF&E packages for UniLodge’s $40 million development at Wreckyn Street in North Melbourne.
Delivered under the LU Simon’s scope of works, the Joinery package included; complete kitchens, wardrobes, cupboards and desks for the student apartments, and a high-end kitchen, custom reception counter & storage units and banquette seating for the shared and common spaces.
The architectural specification stipulated a variety of Joinery items and kitchen configurations within a broad collection of finishes, including, reconstituted stone, solid timber and textured laminate in a series of woodgrain & coloured surfaces.
Archetypical for student accommodation, single and twin studio apartments feature a small kitchenette conjoined to a robe and study desk with overhead shelving, bedhead storage unit and a fully equipped ensuite.
The cluster apartments offer a shared living arrangement to encourage social engagement among the student residents, housing six residents in separate bedrooms with communal amenities & furnished lounge spaces.
Project teams worked closely with UniLodge and the architect, Nettleton Tribe, throughout all stages of the project to ensure we delivered an exceptional level of quality on all supplied Joinery & Furniture items.
As the loose-fit Furniture component was outside the builder’s scope of works, GETC was accommodated by our previous work with UniLodge to build a new client relationship with IPSG—the agency managing the delivery of the Furniture package.
The package included the typical furnishing of apartment spaces with task chairs, mattresses, bed frames, dining tables & chairs among other miscellaneous loose-fit items.
However, common area, outdoor and shared spaces commanded a diverse range of versatile items to suit the dynamic nature of the spaces. Games tables, sofa lounges, dining settings, stools, bar height pedestal tables & chairs, beanbags and weatherproof solid timber outdoor Furniture items were all included.
Every piece within the Furniture specification was meticulously matched in close consultation with the client & architect, including; powder coat, paint & timber finishes through to the classification of the upholstery.
